So I think someone started a food mega thread a while back, but I cannot find it, time for a new one.

This will be a place to share recipes, videos, personal reviews of kitchen gadgetry, etc.

I'll start us off with this absolute food porn

Even has porno music to suit. My only issue is that they used a not really "stuffing", more layering. Still looks fucking delicious.

So what incredible recipes do you have to share?

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

As a follow-up contribution, I can highly recommend this stainless steel skillet.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00421AYK4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I was skeptical because of the rather low price for a multi-clad skillet, but it has done remarkably well for me. I did have some difficult adjusting to it, coming off of an older disc based stainless steel skillet, but I would also add that at the same time I am adjusting to going from years of using an electric range, to using gas for the first time ever.

Gas range = best. Electric fucking sucks.

Induction is quite nice though... It heats up fast, no risk of blowing your house up if anything ever goes wrong and doesn't get hot to the touch if you open it by mistake...

You should participate in Gordon Ramsey's Master Chef show or making a Youtube channel about cooking content. I can put meats onto the grill or pan but the meat will come out completely dark. Sometimes, the pan will caught on fire.

I'm not that good of a cook. Nor would I be a good TV personality.

I can make a recipe come out right, but I have a rather limited palette. And I do not do well under the pressure of limited time.

Ground beef, a slice of American cheese, pickles and bread. It's basically a cheeseburger grilled cheese and it's absolutely amazing.

At least to me, anyways.

It is the best. Sooooo much better than fucking electric coils that take for-fucking-ever to change temp.

I recently started cooking Zucchini, carrot, and onion fritters. Seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, umami powder, thyme, and paprika. Also threw in a little parmesian because why not.

Delicious.

i have cooked on both. i currently have an eletric stove top simply so i dont have to pay for gas bottles (since we dont have mains out where i live)

and unless i've had shit stoves for the last 15 years (that i can remember) my electric top is much better at controlling heat and giving an even distribution compared to the  gas ones i've had

Induction or convection?

I just recently moved into a place with gas for the first time. It's a bit of a learning curve to understand it, and the stove is certainly a cheap on, but it's FAR better at changing temperatures than electric.

The benefit of gas is a more constant heat, and the ability to very quickly change temperatures. It's hard to see the benefits without good cookware. And the way to tell if you have good cookware is if you bought it from a big box store like walmart.

If yes, then you do not have good quality cookware. I recently bought my first tri-ply multi-clad stainless steel pan. Holy shit does it make a different in cooking. You'd see a marked improvement on any cook surface with something like that. It heats FAR more evenly than your average stainless steel disc based cookware.

I use them for all my purchases. I currently own what is probably number 2 or 3 on the list they created by this video. It's a bit heavier than the all clad, but still is freaking amazing compared to the aluminum disc based skillet I was using beforehand.

I don't care for electric stoves.  I've grown up cooking on both.

If you have a main gas line to the city, gas is superior in every way.

As for cooking, I think I might saute some shrimp my next day off

I prefer gas for the cooktop burners but electric for the oven. I've heard quite a few things about induction cooktops but I have yet to ever use one

I'm most definitely a gas man myself (or maybe I'm just a gassy man?). Unfortunately the apartment I just moved into only has electric, but it will do I suppose.

I've only recently become interested in cooking and, not going to lie, I've learned the majority of my cooking knowledge from Binging with Babish. My girlfriend and I have also been using a lot of Chrissy Teigen recipes; most all of which have been fantastic.

I have used both. We used to have a gas range at one of my childhood houses (not for a long period mind you). I agree that it's superior (aside from safety) compared to a regular convection electric stovetop.

But Induction stovetops have most of the benefits of Gas, plus a few others. They heat up almost instantly, so changing temperatures is just as fast (if not faster) than with a Gas Range.

I don't own an induction one mind you - they're pretty expensive. But one day perhaps.

I've considered getting one of the counter top style induction cook tops, but I don't know which one to get. Some of them seem to be out and out scams that are really just hotplates that look like induction cook tops.

Never used induction. When I refer to electric cook top I mean those pain in the ass coils that get red hot and pulse on and off and struggle to maintain a constant temp, and take forever and a half to change temps.

I've very occasionally used one at my fiancees old apartment.

I wouldn't mind one, but yeah I couldn't tell you a good one vs a bad one.

Loved the old thread, glad somebody revived the idea. As for ranges, I'm all about gas. It's more consistent, it's quicker and it's easier to get things going. Especially with flambé or when you're using a live flame during cooking.

Anywho, have some food porn. Here's some capellini with a salsa di pomodoro made with san marzano:
