I9 9900k

Alright guys , so I’m about to put in my new cpu for the very first time , I’m a little worried about the thermal paste part though I’ve done a little research but every place says something different , will the pea size dot in the middle work best or should I do thin spread ?

I usually do about this muchimage.png.5ca9551008234245906595ad637ea58c.png

This isn't me, i just found this picture on google.

As long as your thermal paste isn't conductive you shouldn't have any issues (besides it off the sides of the cpu) if you use a bit more than you need. However, if you use too little your cpu will run hot. Pretty much every tech tuber has a video on youtube about how much thermal paste to use.
