hello!

i currently have a set of 16GB (2x8) HyperX fury DDR4 2133MHz RAM in my pc. i was wondering if it is possible to add a set of 8GB (2x4) HyperX fury DDR4 2133MHz sticks. they're the same stick, just 2 are 8GB, and 2 are 4GB. would this cause any issues?

thanks in advance!

In theory you should only use the same sets of RAM, in practice it will work just fine with no issues.

Usually I do recommend buying from a store with a decent return policy, in case it doesn't work, but if it's the same set in a different capacity, it should just work out of the box.

they're the same sticks, just different amount of GB. i was just wondering if it would actually work because i already have the 16GB set, and soon my brother is also buying a 16GB set, so his 8GB set i will be able to use. thanks for your help!

Usually it's fine but some boards are picky and sometimes it doesn't work, I recently picked up a second kit of my DDR4 16GB 3000mhz Corsair Vengeance ram, same exact kit, but after I installed the second set, constant bluescreens and crashes they were just incompatible even though they were the same exact kit they still had issues, so I sold both kits separately and bought a 32gb 4x8gb kit. In theory it should work but sometimes it doesn't, that's why it's recommended to buy the full amount of ram in one kit, their specifically made to work together and not have compatibility issues.
