Unless you need a mic, get the M50! it's $120 on amazon right now

M50's sound good, but they're horribly uncomfortable.

a good option is the Shure SRH440, with 840 pads. They sound better, isolate better, and are very comfortable. The sound is not as bassy, but the bass is more accurate. the mids and highs are more present, and a little smoother (amazing for synthesizers and keyboard effects).

for a mic, the Blue Snowflake is nice. you can also put it on your monitor, so it doesn't take up that much space on your desk.

DT990 or DT770 or HD598, depending on what kind of music you listen to + cheap clip-on mic.

EDIT: Actually, don't think you can get the Sennheisers for <200$

a1000 + blue yeti would be killer, for 150$

Why would you suggest a $100 microphone for someone considering a headset?

oh. :P

i assumed since he mentioned m50

if you can get audiophile grade headphones for 50 bucks, why not :P

but true, he could use modmic, and everything would cost like 65 bucks

or he could do DIY modmic if he allready have some used headsets laying around
