Without a budget I saw a good pair of openback headphones and a modmic

Definitely in the double digits realm of things rather than the triple digits. I hadn't thought about attaching a mic onto some headphones.. although that seems like a lot of wires.

Logitech G430 is... Decent... At the double digit price point.

Although I'd recommend "splurging"  and getting the Massdrop Sennheiser PC37X whenever they have them on sale. Only 120$ IIRC, but Massdrop has been raising prices lately so who knows.

Is the G430 open back? Seems closed from the photos.

Closed, but at your pricepoint you won't really find anything worth the money. At sub 100 there isn't a truly noticable difference between open and closed back.

Edit: if you're worried about not hearing yourself, they don't seal real well, especially with foam earpads, so that shouldn't be a problem.
