Kali Friendly Laptop

Hi I'm looking for recommendations on laptops to use with Kali Linux.

Nothing too fancy, decent battery life.

Any help is much appreciated ?

what's your budget ?
What will you be doing within Kali ?
Password cracking or some lighter work ?

Money is not the issue. I'm trying to find out what people are using and/or what they recommend. I can assign a budget from there.

I want it to be able to competently do everything Kali is capable of without choking.

My only 2 requisites are it's not an overkill (unneeded for the job) "not fancy" and has a good battery. The rest is up to whoever else contributes to the thread.

I just want to know what people recommend...

I mean, unless you do a lot of password hashing and need it done quickly, pretty much anything will work fine. even with an older 960m gpu
Many people use old thinkpads for pen testing too.
I woudn't settle for 5gb of ram, get 8.

Have you used Kali before ?

My current laptop has a GTX 950m(or960m). But it has a *SUPER* shit battery, like 2 hours.

EDIT: I will be doing a lot of password cracking and penetration tests

I haven't used Kali before but I have to learn it for my job.

I was hoping more seasoned users can share what they'd use

macbook pros have a good battery too.
Also some thinkpads can have a battery extension (aka 9 cell rather than 6) and a battery un place of the dvd drive (for example a T61 but get something better like a T420).

I refuse to use any Apple product on principal.

But will definitely look into the Thinkpads, thanks :)

Also Kali Linux.

That Distro is popular with the NCL crew at my University

It would run fine btw, Linux can make any machine better

Not always. you can't necessarily turn off the dedicated GPU on all machines with linux. some software/drivers are not compatible.

(I was surprised to see that distro_)

(That's my only real exposure to that distro)

(Linux is usually less intensive than Windows, so it can give a speed boost some hardware_

If its your first time seeing, what's so surprising ?
if you don't know anything about this, don't tell people what to do.
Ever heard of load ?
