Do I have to install Ethernet Drivers (Are they even needed)?

Eton

So my computer has a MSI B350M Motherboard, and I use Ethernet for my connection. My question is, why is their a Ethernet Driver on the support website for the motherboard if I don't need it to use the ethernet port?

Windows automatically installs drivers, so say if it fucked up in installing those drivers, you can get it from the site

You don't need it because Microsoft loads a basic driver when it Windows is installed, same as your GPU and audio drivers.

It's not an absolute requirement to download Nvidia's or AMD's display drivers, but doing so will let you use your GPU to its full potential. Similar basis for your LAN.

The last Windows 10 build I did on a B350m (last month) the computer did not automatically pick up the network connection. I installed the driver from the disc that came with the motherboard and it worked. Not sure why but there are scenarios where the Microsoft provided driver does not kick in or will not work. The driver exists to guarantee there is a way to get your network connection going.

Also. I assume the driver is useful for people not running Windows 10 to get it working (ie, Windows 7, various Linux distros, etc.)
