Okay so I'm trying to help a friend upgrade his pc to an rx 550(he had a gt710) and the system works as expected with the gt710 in there and when I put in the rx 550 the pc will not output through DVI or HDMI and I'm not too sure if it is software or hardware compatibility(its not a dead card I just tested it and it works fine in my system).

His specs:

i5-2500

16Gb of DDR3 1333

1TB WD Blue

some 500W psu

a lenovo motherboard(not too sure of model number)

Thanks

Will the integrated graphics of his CPU work? You could try getting the display from that and having the graphics card installed to see if it's detected by the system.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Yeah that's another issue of itself the igpu won't work I think it's a compatability issue with windows 10 and HD graphics 2000

You think? Even basic display adapter will work if you use the IGPU

He may have to go in BIOS and change a setting to boot using the video card in pci-e slot as primary graphics card, instead of using the integrated graphics.

Also keep in mind that RX 550 has no analogue (VGA) output, so if the guy uses a DVI->VGA passive adapter or some kind of hdmi-vga cable, it won't work, the card doesn't produce any kind of analogue signal.
