ok so, i'm planning on building a midranged pc once i have the money
and i'm upgrading from a total shit laptop but i still want the majority of my data (such as documents, photos, music, programs, etc)

what would be the best way to go about getting my data over?
i've looked into thinks like laplink but it seems iffy since my internet is really shitty (3mbs down, 2 mbs up)
one idea i have is just removing the hard drive from my laptop and putting it in my pc and then just extracting my data that way, but programs will probably need to be reinstalled.
but i wanted to know, is there any way i could do it better? lmk! cause i wanna be sure i'm going into this fully prepared ❤️

Since you just want files, you can copy them over manually by just lifting the laptop drive and plugging it into your PC. Reinstalling is best so you can manage junkware you've accumulated.

What laptop is it though, just in case this isn't possible?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

it's an old dell inspiron (3721) and the drive is easily removable by just taking off a few screws on the bottom

Then yeah, that's ideal.
