Program to compress pdf file

Hello,

Does anyone know a free program I can use to reduce a pdf file significantly? The pdf file I have right now is about 3 mb. But i need it reduced to at most 2mb. I know that there are online file compressors but I'm compressing tax returns, and i don't wanna leave it up to chance if the site is trustworthy or not. Is there a program that can reduce a file my 3mb file down smaller, ideally less than 2mb. I need it to also stay as a pdf, so i cant use winrar, 7zip to compress it that way.

remove all pictures, adobe acrobat has some things I think.

no pictures, just a bunch of text. its a tax return. adobe acrobat does have a compressor but its not free. thanks though

I just did a test on a pdf and I was able to compress it with 7Zip. However, it didn't compress by very much, let alone 1/3.

 

Why do you need to compress the PDF? 3MB is not very large.

Can you break the PDF into page sized files and upload it in pieces?

All depends how text is stored in PDF - it can be as text, as curves or even as image. Size difference may be huge.
