I might want to swap in a new cpu in my laptop if it supports it (still on that somewhere else), but i got curious by one part.

I have a 19v 4,74a charger, but my laptop only accepts up to 3,42a according to the label

which one should i use for wattage calculations, the charger or the label on the laptop?

Amps are pulled as required ._. the number you should be looking out for is the voltage (and make sure the power supply has a higher current rating (A) than the device it's powering)

the voltage is 19v on the charger and label, and 11v on the battery

so i'm fine with putting a quadcore in it?

follow the laptop's rating. when the battery is in the laptop it's dealt with the laptop's power management

(if the laptop comes with a 19V charger, but says a different thing for input power for the laptop on the spec pages or manual... what in the heck?)

it's because my charger is a original acer/liteon charger, but not from this laptop... it's technically from a older travelmate i have

there are a few "universal" chargers (at least those that covers a lot of Acer laptops of that era) that's rated about 19V and claims to be compatible with the 8573T. if your 19V LiteOn charger isn't causing issues with your laptop prior to this post, I would lean towards the possibility of the laptop being 19V?

it seems to be, and my laptops does say so on the label (my original charger is 19v too, just lower amps). the documentation is little to nothing, it's even hard to find what chips i can use (tho it seems to be a g2 socket, so i'm fine there)

oh ._. go off that then.

(there's a variant with a better CPU that requires a 90W charger (which implies 19V 4.74A), so maybe go off this one if you're swapping CPUs? find a 19V brick with around or more than 5A. remember to check for plug polarity)

my only concern I can think of is how the laptop would behave with a better CPU ._. not sure if the power board is different between those two variants (or ideal case would be they use the same and the better one just works harder)

can you show me it? maybe i can make something up from it, otherwise i'll ask acer

ah... so i'll probably ask acer then, because that one has a gpu (which i don't have)

thanks for your help tho!
