I am helping a friend out to choose a laptop around the 600 euro price range.
When comparing systems at that price range i cannot help but notice that amd based systems are cheaper than their intel counter parts.

However I am personally not very familiar with amd. Is AMD a good brand for this purpose?

Also, do you have any laptop recommendations perhaps?

He wants a display that is about 15-17 inches.

He main concern however is whether or not an amd based system is suitable. What we want to know is how they compare to their intel counterparts and if they are good enough for the job. And what Radeon graphics card is needed for his work?

These are some links from stores in my country if you would want to look into it:

Answer this first: Any preference on battery life?

Why not Intel+Nvidia?

I mean.. the more the better.. We haven't really discussed battery life and I just assumed it's more or less the same for all laptops.

They seem to be a bit more expensive. That is the only reason. That's why I asked to learn more about amd systems and if they are any good.

I'm an EE student and I asked the same question. It depends on what you want your laptop to do.  Initially if you're looking for high performance it might be pretty difficult for you to find an Intel computer around that price.  I have never owned an AMD computer before; however, I haven't heard anything too bad about it.  They are about the same if you are wanting a cheaper laptop. I personally am looking for a well-built laptop so I am looking at either an MSI or potentially an ASUS (leaning more towards MSI).  But, overall I definitely trust Dell for a basic laptop.  You could potentially try HP, but I never had any good luck with them and they are pretty flimsy (personal opinion). Hope this helps!

Thanks! This did help!

Also, I had heard some bad rumors about Asus laptops that they break more often than they should, and after buying one myself I have to say it appears to be true..
Mines SSD broke and the motherboard got fried in the first year of purchase (two separate incidents), so it might be best if you do some more search on Asus laptops in case you want to buy one.

Not the same. That's why you have to tell me min hours of battery life you prefer

ok, how about lets say 5 hours? The battery life is really not the main concern here, that is why I didn't tell you a value before.
Thanks for your time though
