The audioengines are pretty good.If you want a alternative I would look at the KRK Rokkits.I personally like them better

Thank you, I'm open to options, they're cheaper too, the rokkits that is so I'm interested, what's their bass like?

Just so you know thats the price for 1 speaker

The bass is decent, but are still very very decent. The rokkits imo have some of the flattest sound signature you can get at this price

Hey everyone,

first of all I want to say I'm not an audiophile, I'm your average joe who loves listening to a lot of music, some genre's I enjoy are electronic dance music, rap and even some piano tracks here and there, I listen to a wide variety of music and I'm currently using the Harmon kardon sounsticks iii as desktop speakers along with the the Sony 1000x m3s as headphones, sometimes I'm not in the mood for headphones, when my friend comes over and we like to turn up the volume on the speakers.

My soundsticks are years old and are falling apart by the seams, literally they split in two lol.

So I'm looking for some new speakers that I can literally just plug into my motherboard and enjoy some good quality audio without being too picky. What do you guys think about the Audio Engine A5+? I don't plan to use a sub as I heard these have a good amount of bass as is and the fact the sub is very expensive. I can get the a5's for €348 or about $390 for the Americans.

Thanks everyone in advance for any replies.

I would get the adam t5v's personally.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Actually considering returning the A5+ and getting the Adams instead, do you have them yourself? The A5+ bass to me sounds a little distracting and I'm pretty sure the Adams allow you to tweak it manually to your liking? For EDM I love bass but all the time especially in games can become annoying I found.

Could always buy a sub. would help with the bass, i dont have the adams myself but i have heard them at a show similar to the bristol hifi show. Probs would sound way better in my room then a busy hangar like building.. I think z reviews mightve done a video on the adams.

Yeah I'm considering a subwoofer for the a5's or just getting the Adams. Did you find the Adams extremely bright or do they still have a decent amount of bass?

I personally own the A2+ and they do sound nice but there's one issue, white noise in the background.

Most of the time i can't hear it but i do once it goes into the dead of night.

Also i recommend you look into Kanto since they're a bit more up to date and sound very similar in quality

They could be both. The tweeter is very accurate as it is a ribbon. They do have treble and bass controls so you can adjust it to your liking. as they are rear ported you can tune it by moving them from the rear wall or closer to it.
