So I just ordered a prebuilt custom system it only has a 500GB SSD and I know that I will need more in the future.. What is the best SSD to get aimed towards gaming, etc? I need about 1TB of storage

An SSD is an SSD. There's nothing to gain from getting something marketed as a "gaming" SSD.

I'd just get the cheapest one from a reputable brand that has the capacity you want. MX500, EVO 860, some form of Intel, etc.

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900 Cooler: EVGA CLC280 Motherboard: Gigabyte B550i Pro AX RAM: Kingston Hyper X 32GB 3200mhz

WD Blue, Team Group L5 Lite 3D, Adata SU800, Crucial MX500, Samsung 860 EVO or the 860 QVO. All of those will work great. And at least one of them should be available reasonably priced at 1 TB in size.

the 660p is NVMe and 1TB for 109$, you might want to get that

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

If he has a NVMe slot open. As this is the secondary drive, he might already have that populated. Also, that's in the States. Not sure the price where he is.

I second this - Samsung's 8XX Evo drives or Crucial's MX500 series provide the best value to performance to reliability in the SATA SSD market.

So what I thought was to get like a 1 or 2TB M.2 NVME SSD do you win anything by getting that or is the improve so little that it won't matter?
