100% gpu usage

When im playing unturned, it says it only uses 0-30% of my gpu (xfx rx480 RS 4gb) but when i minimize the game it says it uses 100% of my gpu. How does that even work? im not having any problem with it, im just wondering what is happening that makes the gpu go to 100% usage when not playing and only 0-30% when playing.

 

 

EDIT: when playing it sometimes goes up to 100% for about 1-2 sec but then down to 0%.

This is actually a problem known to a couple of games where losing focus doesn't pause rendering but since you're not there anymore your GPU is rendering an endless cycle of black screen which ramps it's usage to maximum.

 

It's something you can't really fix easily sadly.

Just to clarify, when your GPU usage is at 30%, your CPU isn't sitting at 100% is it?

Google "AMD GPU Usage 0%" as an issue itself,... because I've heard this a few times,..

It can be working normally but by looking at STATS, it looks jank. Driver & Usage Statistics...

No, it stays around 20-50% when playing.
