CPU performance suggestions

Go to solution Solved by Jurrunio,

probably just thermal throttling, thermal paste do get old and dry out

Finally found an application that could pinpoint what components are affecting my pc. Although I have a gtx 1060, it isnt being detected for some reason so ignore the 750. I just need any suggestions as to what can be happening to my processor and what I could do to upgrade its performance. I had a weird old build that performed even better with the same cpu and gpu so it is definitely performing below expectations. Any help will do.

Adding a 2nd 8gb stick of ram (to have dual channel mode) would boost performance.

Relatively cheap upgrade at ~35$ new, for ex. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231745&ignorebbr=1

Maybe 20$ used.

Replace thermal paste, it's free or a couple dollars for a good thermal paste syringe

blow dust from cpu heatsink fins while you're there

probably no extra performance, but at least would be more silent.
