Missing NVME driver for Gigabyte M.2 NVME drive on Windows 7 x64?

Hi,

 

I just got the Gigabyte m.2 nvme 512gb drive. I installed it on my MB Asus Z170-A with latest BIOS. I can see the drive in BIOS but not in an existing Windows 7 x64 installation on my old SATA SSD drive. Windows Device manager is reporting a missing driver for PCI device, and Unknown device. I think those are the missing NVME driver.

Is there actually a working nvme driver for Windows 7?

 

Or should I do something in BIOS settings?

I  think the problem is the Windows 7

newest version of win 7 should have the driver

Nah.

Microsoft discontinued support for NVMe on Windows 7. I guess Windows 10 is not selling.

However, NVMe driver hotfix can still be found online;

I didn't test it yet really, but after installing, Windows 7 found the driver and the drive.

Thanks. I had the same problem with my NVMe. In case anyone else has the same struggle as me: After unzipping the driver files and wondering what to do when the Device Manager driver update would not find them, I finally just double clicked them - self-installers.
