Extra GPU for something?

Hey everyone! Long time since I’ve posted. So today I’m getting a new monitor. It’s a 34” 3440x1440 untrawide (a decent upgrade from my 23” 1080p IPS display. Currently I run an i7 and an RTX 2070. I’ve been streaming and recording The Division 2 with ease however this is at 1080p. I’m thinking it will be more resource intensive to record at the new resolution (which I want to record at that resolution). To prevent bogging down the RTX or having to dumb down my graphics any, I’m wondering if I can use another GPU to do recording/whatever.

 

I have a GTX 960/1060? (I need to look). If I put this in my system with the RTX (obv not SLI) what kind of stuff could I do with it? Or is it prob more worth my time to just sell the old card and get a second PC for recording / streaming?

Another desktop + capture card using x264 encoding is the best for quality. Also older Nvidia card's NVENC is pretty terrible, 1440p 21:9 will definitely drag it to the floor.

When using NVENC it's using the built in decoder which is different then just using the GPU.

You should be able to use NVENC just fine, the overhead is small, you'll just have to have a crazy bitrate like 50Mbps+.

Could I at least use the other card to run displays? Would this take any pressure off the main card?

 

Id really like to know if there is anything I could really do with this extra card to support my games/workflow/creative.
