What the hell is wrong

My monitor will turn on and off repeadedly whether im in a game or not and I dont know if my monitor is broken or whether the slot on the GPU is broken. I have tried recconecting the cables and sometimes it works then it just comes back a day later. This can happen for a whole day then It wont happen for two days then it will come back again. What can I do, return the monitor or somehow check if the cables are broken (to bad i dont have spare cables)

If the monitor itself is turning off, then it's probably going to be a problem with the monitor.  I'd see if you can get another monitor to test with.

Are you browning out the power in your house? I knew of a few monitors that are sensitive to things like that and will turn off.

Yeah if you can't pull up the on screen display or aren't seeing any 'no signal' messages its got to be the monitor.

It always turns off then when it turns back on it says the input that I usually am on.

Have you changed windows power options lately? There's option that says shutdown display and might be causing this.
