can't use HDMI, must be either DVI-D or DP, no adapters except active ones which are 100€+

Well the main problem is you are trying to use a DP to HDMI adapter to make an HDMI to DP connection. It doesn't work in that direction, and this is likely stated in the product description.

You can use a straight HDMI connection or straight DP on that monitor anyway, no need for an adapter.

144Hz on HDMI is....difficult.

You need a monitor with the newest HDMI spec, a cable for that spec, and a GPU that can do 144Hz on HDMI. Even then, its not guaranteed to work. DP and DVI are your best options for 144Hz, DP is the best since it can better handle higher resolutions.

You can try, but you will be limited to a low refresh rate unless it is a DP to HDMI 2.0 active adapter.
