http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/11/06/amd-fx-8350-review/6

Is the review dated? Yup. Doesn't include BF4 where the 8350 is = with an I5. IF Mantle takes the world by storm will a 8350 be = to a 8350 in gaming? Yup. That is gonna take years though and if you want to play all games and ESPECIALLY if you like RTS and MMO's?

I5 all day, every day. Is the I5 ever gonna be slower then the 8350 in GAMING? Nah. Both chips will be overkill on Mantle and they are dead even in BF4, Planetside 2, Crysis 3 which are 8 thread games. To be honest if Mantle takes over both will be overkill at streaming AND gaming.

Is that review biased? No more then just showing games where the AMD matches the I5 or games that are GPU bound (*cough* Tek Syndicate). If you play WoW, Guild Wars 2, RTS? You are getting half the FPS on the AMD when there is a lot of stuff on screen. In some cases that is simply unplayable and can dip down to 15.

If all you play is console ports and want a next gen clone? AMD is fine. The 6300fx is fine. If you want to play RTS/MMO do things like Dolphin Emulator or Hackintosh. Avoid AMD. Make the decision based on what you are going to do. Both can be the right choice. If going expensive motherboard, and looking for big OC's and a water cooler? Waste of money on AMD imo. The games it will struggle in? It will still struggle in. You don't need an expensive Z87 for a high OC on Intel, you do need one on AMD. Think of AMD as a budget rendering machine or a budget next gen gaming machine. When you try to make them more? You are throwing money away and should have went cheap z98 30 dollar air cooler and Haswell.

I agree with @ONOTech, if your not rendering @Lethhy I would go with an AMD CPU for the best value for money.

@Lethhy, what's your primary purpose for this CPU?

Main purpose will be upcoming titles that aren't released on Xbox one , along with current games like Starcraft , dota and league , which I can run on my i5 notebook , but I was just curious as to the general consensus of the CPU titles . From what you guys have shared , seems like i5 is a safe bet if you have extra money , but the AMD can keep it's head above water for a lower price but mainly gaming , am I right ?
