What is the point of a larger GPU heatsink?... GPU struggles

theteedanlee

I've been looking at new GPU's and I've finally decided upon the EVGA RTX 2070 XC Gaming / XC Ultra Gaming. I'm struggling to decide whether or not it is worth it to get the XC Ultra Gaming over the other because its heat sink is bigger but cost about $20 more. Can anybody explain to me the point of a larger heat sink and whether or not it is worth it to spend that extra 20 dollars to have a bigger one?

Bigger heatsink with three fans instead of two means that the card will run cooler while being less loud. I'd say that triple fan is worth it for the 2070. Lower temps should also mean that the card will sustain a higher boost clock which is directly dependant on the tempreature of the card even if the final result is a couple more fps.

Better cooling but also more weight which can bend the card over time and put stress on the PCIE
