Hello everybody.  This is my first post on this site.  I have been following Linus' videos on YouTube for a few months, and I am ready to build my first gaming PC.  I know nothing about reputable places to pick out components and was wondering if there is a place on this site with recommended builds, or guides for newbies like myself.  I want the experience to be as painless as possible but also want to get the biggest bang for my buck without having to pour over tons and tons of hardware specs making sure I am getting the good stuff.  Any tips are greatly appreciated.  Thanks. ?

Hey, welcome!

Definitely check out https://pcpartpicker.com/, it lets you create a list of your parts, and automatically does compatibility checks, and has links to where you can buy the parts.

There's plenty of posts and people on the forum that can help you decide between parts within a budget, if you can't find an answer just ask.

I'm assuming you're in the US, and if so, the buildapcsales subreddit is a good place to start. There's also the related buildapc subreddit. Both are useful.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately to get the best bang for your buck requires a bit of research or foreknowledge. If you post your budget, country, and use case (gaming, video editing, etc) people will usually build you a list on pcpartpicker.

Hello! Welcome to the forum

Just to say,

Once you have a system planned, you can post it in the forum section called: New Builds and Planning

Include budget and what you plan to do with the system. And you'll have the community check what you plan in getting, and help you out by sharing feedback on your build, propose alternatives hardware that you might be interested in, advice you if it may be worth waiting a moment or not for something newer/better, etc.

And also help you finding places which are reputable/good experience to order the hardware.

We also have a Troubleshooting section on the forum, where the community is ready to help you if you face issues in building your system, or face system level issues (example: system shutdown on you, no image on screen when turning on, etc.) And of course, we have the Windows forum section for any Windows related questions, problems, etc.
