I built a PC from spare parts. Using a i7 2600, 24 GB gskill ram, gtx 1050ti, and a 650 watt evga psu. I'll turn it off (shutdown in windows) and the screen will go black like it did shit down. Thing is that the PC is still powered. The case fans still run, the power light is on, rgb is working. I have to hold the power button to shut it all the way off. Anyone ever experience this before?

My rig

Asus maximus z390

I9 9900k @ 5.2 Ghz 24/7 (5.4 Ghz benching)

Evga RTX 3090 ftx ultra

32GB Gskill trident z 3866 Mhz

1000 watt evga gold psu

All watercooled

Asrock z77 motherboard. No power option I can find. Also it will power down from a restart, just not shutdown.

That's possibly a windows problem. I had issues with my ASUS F550DP not turning off too (back when I still had that god awful laptop, so late 2016, early 2017). It one day stopped turning off, then a month later, it suddenly decided to turn off properly again.

Install the latest chipset drivers from Intel's website, and make sure you are completely up to date with windows update. Restart your PC a few times too.

Also, what's the PSU? EVGA 650W tells us nothing.

Make sure to quote people so they see your responses.

Also, what happens when you switch the PSU off then on again?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

I will! Sorry been troubleshooting all night. So I think I fixed it? Took the cmos jumper and cleared the bios. Still didn't work. Took the jumper all the way off (didn't put it back to it's normal spot), it works fine now. Maybe it was shorting something? I've never seen that before. And no with the psu off it was off.

That's a bizarre solution, but whatever works I guess.

Right. I dont really understand it. But yeah. It's still saving bios profiles without it. So I'm thinking this mobo is just strange.
