My girlfriend now has my old Intel i5 2500, and one of the clips that snap into the holes are broken and thus the cooling is impaired. Yesterday I rushed to my closest pc store and asked a cooler about 1155 socket and specifically that one. The store owner told me that the deepcool alta 9 was enough. Upon seeing the tdp on the alta 9 was 65w and the Intel 2500 is 95w I asked him if it would be sufficient and he said  that it would be okay. Now I don't know whether I should replace it and not care or I should I keep the old one cause it's still working fine. (not as intended but fine)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

It might be enough, but it'd probably end up having to run its fan at very high speeds, making it rather noisy. I'd hazard a guess that your girlfriend would appreciate a quieter system, so maybe it'd just be better to get a slightly better cooler?

I happen to swear by Noctua's fans ( https://noctua.at/en/cpu/Intel_Core_i5-2500 ), but use whatever you feel like, I guess.

If she's been using an Intel stock cooler, she's likely used to the noise by now. It's not the quietest.

Eh, true enough, but it might net OP some extra bonus-points, if he made the system quieter than it was. Bonus-points with a girlfriend is always a good thing to have!

Damn I need a relationship where a new, quieter CPU cooler is a pleasant surprise.

Thank you guys all, for the help, making the decision easier. I think I'll go though with the instalation of the alta9 and see what is gonna happen in terms of cooling. Take care! ?

It same as having stock cooler. And btw, you can use any LGA115x compatible cooler on there. Which is 98% of coolers available. Only limitations are RAM height and case.
