I'm planning to build my first PC and have decided on the RX580 videocard (in combination with ryzen 5 2600).

I see there is a wide range of supplier selling rx580's at widely varying prices. What are the mayor differences between the following 3 cards that give them such a wide variety in prices?

  1. Asrock Phantom Gaming D Radeon RX580 8G OC (€181)

  2. Gigabyte Radeon AORUS RX 580 8GB (€215)

  3. Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Pulse 8GB (€259)

First is the cooler type. The Phantom Gaming line is a cheap (but commendable) line from ASRock that uses less premium construction and design, like a simpler heat sink, leat pipes, different fans, etc. It also has a plastic shroud.

Second is binning. chips are sold at a level they perform at, so higher clockable chips are available at higher prices but with better cooling and more performance.

Third is marketing, the Aorus card from gigabyte is a step up from their windforce, meant to represent a premium variant of the card. Same with the pulse from Sapphire.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

In case you were curious, I've got the Powercolor RX 580 8GB, and I will say the fans have a bit of a yuck to them if they really get going. It's almost high pitched. It works great, and I don't necessarily think it's a hardware issue in my case. They just have a very high set sound when the fans are pushing it.

I got the same, but it only at full speed on start up, on full load never more than 70% fan speed. normal settings, no OC.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

I've never OCed it, but mine definitely hits 99-100% on 1080p High settings on RE:2 (remastered) pretty easily.

Maybe I need to mess with my bios? I've got a R5 2600 paired with it, so there shouldn't be any bottlenecking issues I don't think...

@Vejnemojnen I was looking at that GTX 1060 before but i heard the armour versions are incredibly loud?

the XFX GTS XXX RX580 is basically the same price, can you explain why that one is "better" then the gigabyte one? I noticed the XFX one is significantly longer so i guess the mian difference is cooling?

for the 1060: yes, the Armor is awful, loud and the cooling is subpar. BUT, the Gaming series by MSI are regarded as well built cards. For the 580: I honestly don't know, though, I just saw those cards as reasonably priced, and the PowerColor was actually a recommendation of a german site. The XFX is very popular in my country for some reason.

But IMHO, probably the best 580 available is the Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon, or the "blue" edition of the Nitro+. Very good cooling& noise levels.

I'd still pick 1060, due to my obsession with low power consumption parts and small wattage PSU-s :)

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

Your 5 2600 is definitely not bottlenecking it. The 3 2200G wouldn't be a bottleneck so no worrys

Solid advice. Sapphire coolers are almost always the best to stand the test of time. Go look on ebay at some older cards; that will be like half of what you see.

None, go to the rx 590 nitro+ or for a bit more money get the vega 56 pulse

absolutely does not worth it. Basically a severely overclocked 580, with high power consumption. Vega56 could be a "reasonable" choice, but still eats and heats.

Either 580, or, for a little more, 1660Ti, which offers incredible value (roughly 25% faster than 580, much lower power consumption)

Ie.: Gigabyte GTX 1660Ti Gaming OC or GB Windforce OC, MSI Gaming X 1660Ti. These are not much more expensive than the 590, and surpass it in performance with less power. Roughly 4-5% performance could be gained by going Vega56, but I don't see why would anyone buy a gpu with hweeege power consumption, heating, when a never-recent, more efficient yet, almost as fast unit is available cheaper.... (cause the vega is pricier than the 1660Ti)

TLDR: Either 580, or 1660Ti.

He lives in Europe, so Vega will be about €20-30 more expensive than 1660 Ti.

And no, Vega 56 isn't 4-5% faster:

While 8% difference isn't much, Vega card will have much more room for overclocking.

And regarding power draw... If you don't go crazy, 500W PSU should be enough

Ex-EX build: Liquidfy C+... R.I.P.

Okay. I know he's from EU, and yes, Vega is around 25-30€~ more with better performance, and with underclocking/undervolting You can keep power requirements at reasonable levels..

But I'd still recommend the 1660ti. Very capable card with excellent performance and power consumption for great price.

There are some gaming and benchmark results here
