@creativename

There's a package of codecs for windows media player called Win7Codecs.

It has a few things that it installs so you can play files in WMP that you couldn't before.

Change the icon and install a new interface?
You can then pretend it's sth else?

Media Player Classic - Home Cinema is the best player around, give it a go!

^This so much....Its the only player you need.

Unless you like flashy looking players,....that do nothing special.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Yep you can change that, two methods are shown here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/57455-file-extension-icon-change-default-icon.html first method is by far the easiest.

Then you just need to choose an mkv icon that you like.
