entry level server recommendations?

Have you looked into NAS? I assume you want all devices in the house to have access, not just the main one?   What about outside access, like from work or somewhere out of the house?

 

Actually, I'd probably go with Dropbox, Box, Carbonite or another cloud based storage option.   They're dead easy and no hassle on your end.

I'd do that too if it's just for storing material at home. Otherwise, if you want a cheapo used server for doing whatever you are doing, I'd look at sites like ITXchange or places like that. You can find good bargains on used servers.

that would be a poor use of a server, dont get a server just to have one , get it if you really need it game saves and docs are a waste for that

to be honest i could just import a bunch of os images and virtual oses onto it haha
