something very wired is going on. I updated to windows 1809 a week back. everything fine till yesterday. today EVERYTHING is super loud. i made the volume in the mixer for chrome to 3%. even on 20% overall volume everything (music / youtube etc) is like full volume from  afew days back. I have done nothing with sound settings so idk what is going on. same thing going on with games. in rainbow6 i have mixer is 1%, in game to 60% overall at 20. yesterday its all fine. today its like max volume even at 1% mixer.

Maybe redownload your audio drivers

I would do a full uninstall of the audio drivers and then reinstall direct from the manufacturer and not let Windows do it. You might need to tweak Windows to prevent it from doing it on its own. Or download it first and do the work with the computer unplugged from the internet.
