Hi guys. I Just got a IBM X3650 M3 server (Not just for Minecraft) and discovered that ibm’s drives of the same capacity and speed are more expensive than HP’s. I was gonna get a bunch of HP sas drives and a bunch of IBM caddies, but i have a second idea:

Can i swap the server’s hdd cage with one of those and use hp’s drives instead?

Dl380 G7’s sas cage:

I may not need to take out the old cage as there are space for more.

I dont think the fitting is the same,  :But I think you can do it, but we need someone else to respond to that. I know HPs and IBM are different sizes.

Yes,  i replaced the drives in my HP caddies with standard OEM seagate 600GB SAS drives.  all the caddies still say 146gb, but they all work fine. This was on a DL380 G7.

The physical drives should be a standard size.

I’m not talking about the Caddies. I’m talking about the HDD cage that the caddies and drives plugs into.
