Audio interface question

Go to solution Solved by dylandylandylan,

It's because I was planning to hook up two mics for a podcast type, and after researching, gives you a variety of mics need for different situations

I asked a similar question for a USB mixer the other day, and came to the conclusion that this one is pretty good, only two XLR inputs though; Behringer XENYX Q1002USB 10-Input, 2-Bus Small Format Mixer with USB Output.

Hello forum!

I am planning to upgrade my blue snowball to either the AT2020 or AT2035. I was researching about XLR mics being more flexible and better quality. My question is what kind of interface do I need? I live in California currently and my budget is around 100, so there's that :) thanks guys!

The Blue icicle is a highly regarded and "on a budget" tool to convert XLR -> USB interface, but if you're just going to convert XLR to USB why not get the USB version of the AT2020? Unless your doing mixing and sound adjustment using a dedicated mixer, I personally see no point, but hey, that's my opinion :)

Depends what your going to use it for, if all your going to be doing is running from an XLR mic to usb and nothing else most of the interfaces out there are going to be much more than you will need and have features aimed at people doing a fair bit more with their devices.

The 2i2 is actually a pretty good little interface, great preamps, well build, quite simple which sounds like what you need. But that said I've only really got experience with interfaces that have a bit more going on so there might be some more well suited devices out there that I've never heard of.
