Ideas for college laptops

I am looking for some ideas of a laptop for my girlfriend and one for myself. My price range is $1000 or less and hers is around the $600 (US Dollars). I was considering a "Lenovo ideapad u530" because of in 8gb of nan flash. I am not looking for a gaming laptop as I already have a gaming pc. I'm just looking for something thin and light to carry around for class and I prefer a 15 inch screen also. I would love to hear some feedback on both of those price points.

The Yoga 2 Pro is a pretty epic deal right now for $1K.  Bit small though, but for me 15.6" is not portable enough.
