I3 8100 ram

Is 4x4gb 2133mhz ok for an I3 8100? (already have 2x4gb 2133 and I will buy one more set, as I am already buying a new cpu, mobo and gpu)

The “new cpu” is the i3 8100. As I am upgrading the whole pc from antique hardware and only keeping the case, ram, ssd, hdd, etc

ah , In that case not sure what you are asking

does an i3 support 16gb of ram? yeah
does an i3 support 4 dimms? yeah
do 4 dimms have any advantage over 2? not really
can an i3 address 16gb of ram? sure

is there a particular task you are doing that requires 16gb of ram and a lower end cpu perhaps?

If your Ram is from old hardware then it's possibly DDR3, you may need DDR4 for your new CPU.

The ram is ddr4, and I was only asking as I wasn’t sure if the cpu supports 4 dimms.

thank for answers.

and I’m just upgrading my brothers pc to an i3 8100 and a 1060.

Then why you go for an i3 and not "the right side"??

Where you might be able to upgrade later next year.

And also the Prices on that side look better, especially used.

In general: 2 sticks of Memory per Channel in general is not a good idea and should be avoided if possible.

With modern Systems you can also do some weirder Dual Channel stuff:
2x4GiB on ChanA + 1x8GiB on ChanB. That would be what I'd do.

Have you looked at RX570/8G?? They are rather cheap.

Also the Ryzen 3/1200 or better 5/1600 or 2600 is a better choice.

The Ryzen 3 is really cheap (like 75€ or so) but the 6 Cores as well, seen them for like 129€
