I got 6700 i7 and i wanna know if i can put a 3 gigahertz ram inside it and if it will handle it on the 3 gigahertz speed tnx for help

H170 chipset? No. The RAM will work fine, it will just run at 2133Mhz or 2400Mhz.

no it doesnt. For Skylake, past 2133 is considered an overclock. H170 chipset doesnt support overclocking. It will still run fine at lower frequency though

you can still run high frequency in the future if you upgrade to a platform that lets you do so, so not entirely true.

If you're upping the RAM say from 8GB to 16GB, It might not be a bad idea to grab 3Ghz RAM because it really isnt that much more than 2133. Plus it offers a nice upgrade path to Ryzen 3xxx chips if you decide to ditch Skylake.

Wow i wasn't active for a lot of time but tnx for the response my cheapass old ram died yesterday and i wanna buy one to bring my pc to life but i am not sure that the ram is completely dead when i turned on the pc yesterday it froze at the uefi screen after hard reset it was bootlooping and after another resets it came to windows to start booting up but it froze and i tried to change slots and stuff but no positive results
