What should I check / expect to be present in a Ethernet cable before buying one?  And what is this RJ 45/47 stuff going on .?

RJ45 is the connector type.
Inside the cable are 4 twisted pairs of copper wires. Brown + White&Brown, Green + White&Green, Blue + White&Blue, Orange + White&Orange. Either unshielded or shielded (foil wrapped). If it's for outdoor use it will have a waterproof gel inside.

Look at the different Cat ratings for the cable for its speed.

  • Cat5 for 100mbps (100m)
  • Cat5e for 1gbps (100m)
  • Cat6 for 1gbps (100m) and up to 10gbps (~50m)
  • Cat6a for 10gbps (100m)

So for 100 mbps cat 6 is good enough right.   Btw are the amazon basics Ethernet cable good? Rj45 cat 6

Yeah, it'll be fine.
How long are the runs you're doing? How many? Might be cheaper to buy a full roll of Cat6 + crimping tool & RJ45 connectors and make your own cables.

Just get the cheapest cat6 cable you can find. If just using it for home you don’t need fancy emi shielding or other stuff. If using in a work  environment such as servers or bundles of cable close together might want to consider protection.

In short build quality is never an issue on cheap  Ethernet cables  just feature

If your running only 25ft you won’t need a powerline at all

If possible just run the ethernet cable directly between the router and device. Don't bother with powerline if you don't have to.

1) wifi to my room sucks (60 up & down near router. In my room. 15up and 30 down

2) my mobo is non wifi

3) wifi adapters are of no use when the connection itself sucks

4) wifi reapeater ...u say ,,!!  Well again i’d Need a wifi adapter

5) way better  than wifi but slightly  bad than hardwire (direct)

so......isn’t the power line adapter a good/better option for me ?

Well even Kyle uses it .. (bitwit).
