I have a M.2 SSD that I have been using for almost three months. This morning I went to boot my PC and it wouldn't boot to windows. After a while I determined that my M.2 SSD probably died. In BIOs I see all of my other HDDs and SSDs but not the M.2. Is it possible it is dead? Is there a way I can get the data off it?

I have tried using a different M.2 slot but got the same results. 

 

My motherboard is a Gigabyte Auros Z730 Gaming 3. Is it possible that this could be a motherboard issue?

if this is an NVMe SSD you could test it with the other M.2 slot

Sounds dead. You could certainly try it on another board though. Perhaps a friend has a computer that could read it or a laptop with a second M.2 slot. If it doesn't work there then there is no way to get data off other than paying incredible fees to a data recovery company, and if you do go that route make sure that they are able to recover data from SSDs, as it's usually a much more difficult process than with HDDs.
