Just a quick question regarding gaming and the 3570k. I was thinking about upgrading my pc all around and it has a 3570k. I play games alot and I'm wondering if the cpu will be powerful enough for the new few years of gaming?

An oc'ed 3570k is still almost as good as it gets for gaming.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Awesome for gaming..but 8320/50 should be better in a long run because of the extra cores

False. An 8350 can only hope to match the I5 when it is full optimized in a 8 thread game like BF4. It will never be better. In some cases it will be as good. In some cases much worse. Going from a 8350 from even a I5-2500k is a downgrade in gaming. The only thing it does WAY better then a I5 is unzipping files due to "integer cores" which aren't all that great in games. I would take a I5 Sandy/Ivy over a 5ghz extreme OC AMD chip all day for gaming. You can OC the Sandy and Ivy and they start at 3.4 instead of 4.0.

Overclock it. It will come close to matching or surpassing an I7 Haswell at stock on an 8 thread game, which is faster then a 8350 at 5ghz.

If you have a K Sandy or up? You don't need a new chip, now or in the foreseeable future. Things like mantle will help the cpu even more, so you will need LESS from the CPU not more. Buy bigger and better GPU's and a evo 212 or a water cooler depending on what clock you want. On the Sandy you don't even need the water cooler.

If you have even more money to burn, throw in a SSD or ips 120hz 1440p or gsync monitor or whatever. Don't worry about the CPU at all. This is all AMD marketing and pumping up consoles with a laughable x86 mobile chip in them. That chip sucks. You are going to clownstomp any "8 thread console game" that comes out on a I5.
