Shorten PSU cables

Go to solution Solved by Froggo56,

Hey update, i am stupid! After messing around for like an hour i figured out that there is like an ~inch of space above the PSU that i stuffed the shit outta the wires! Although it looks much better from the front the back still isnt perfect, but livable! Thank you for all your help guys, the feed back means a lot! For real the LTT form is great because of people like ya"ll. Love ya ?

So i bought a new case! I went from a anidees AI Crystal Cube (https://www.amazon.com/anidees-AI-Crystal-CUBE-LITE-Tempered-Support-Radiator/dp/B01MY65HNW/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8) to a In Win 301(https://www.amazon.com/InWin-301-Black-Tempered-Micro-ATX/dp/B07229QBYM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1551144350&sr=1-1&keywords=inwin+301).

The In Win 301 has hardly any room to tuck away cables right without there being nests of wires. Are there any good ways to get shorten cables without the DIY method?

It's awesome to see another NH native! Also what PSU do you use currently?

uhh, i think its a EVGA G1 850w? Almost positive thats it

Cablemod would honestly be your best bet honestly. Expensive but worth it.

Is CableMod the only company that does that?

EVGA sells their own last I remembered.

Don't really need custom cables as so much stock cables that are short, like dropping about a foot for each would be perfect

Stock, but shorter, is the definition of custom. Sleeved would theoretically be optional, but I'm not sure who makes custom extensions that won't be sleeved.

Can i just use an extender as a normal cable or would that mess something up? I don't think i could use a motherboard cable extender but possibly a VGA, SATA, and CPU right?

Extensions have a female connector on one end, and a male connector on the other, instead of a female connector on both ends. They also have varying pinouts on the power supply end, which won't match up with a straight pass-through extension.

If it's modular, I would spend the extra money to get cablemod cables. High quality, look great and no ketchup/mustard crap. Yes you will have to pay extra for it, but dang does it look sweet.

Fair enough, a cheaper option might be more beneficial for you then.

BTW, I don't know if it was sarcasm or a fake address or w/e but we can all see your address. Might want to update it.

No. You can't plug extension cables directly in to the PSU.

The In Win 301 has hardly any room to tuck away cables right without there being nests of wires.

That's because the InWin 301 is a small mATX case which lists in its specifications support for PSUs up to 160mm in length. The EVGA G1+ 850W PSU you're using is a particularly large PSU that is 180mm long, plus additional room needed for the modular connectors. That's probably why you're having difficulties.

You've got 4 options
1) Custom made cables for your EVGA G1+ 850W sized to fit. Expect around $50-$150, depending on what cables you need.
2) Buy a new, larger case. Probably cheaper than custom cables.
3) Buy a new, smaller PSU with shorter cables. Probably cheaper than custom cables.
4) Assuming it physically fits and you can close the side panel; Live with the cluttered cables and do nothing. Free.

The PSU did fit to my surprise and very well, The cables are okayishly hidden but not to my liking. And deadass i would get another case but DAM THAT INWIN LOOKS MINT

Ill probably spend some hours getting everything super tight but i wasnt sure if there was an easier way
