Hey everyone!

Hoping your brains can help me.

I have just recently moved homes and have purchased a brand new Netgear Nighthawk D7000 v2 Modem/Router. After spending some time today with my ISP, I am finally connected! As my PC is right next to the Modem, I am wanting to make use of a wired connection to my internet. After plugging in the ethernet cable - I wasn't having any luck. I have tried all 4 LAN ports on the Modem to no avail with the LAN Port lighting up on my modem every so often. Following similar issues online, I have changed the configuration of my ethernet adapter (Atheros AR8161/8165) to have it's 'Speed & Duplex' value set from Auto to 100 Mbps Full Duplex. From this change, the Identifying/Cable Unplugged Loop I had previously has now multiplied in frequency with my Network Connections settings on my PC changing every 4 - 5 seconds from Identifying to Cable Unplugged and the Modem light reflecting this by flicking on and off repeatedly.

I've attempted to uninstall and re-install the adapters driver with no result. Anyone else have any suggestions as to what I can do to get it all working?

Thanks,

TB

Check for pins pushed too far up in your pc socket.

Check for either debris on the pins of the ethernet cable or that none of the dividers in between the pins are bent or squashed preventing the socket pins from making a good contact.

Reset the settings to normal. I am pretty sure this is a hardware issue.

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

Don't forget to tag or quote in your reply if you want me to know you've answered or have another question.

Thanks for the response. I've checked all the pins and the cable itself is brand new - nothing out of place there. It's the first time I've needed to use the ethernet port, so essentially it should be working fine.
