Posted February 24, 2019 (edited) Hey guys, first post here on the LTT forums so please don't heckle if I mess up the formatting/general rules of posting. So here goes, I am looking to determine where my bottleneck lies in my aging gaming rig which I typically just use for World of Warcraft. The reason I am looking to upgrade is that my framerate in raid situations dips extremely low even when on extremely low settings (which tbh shouldn't be happening). I have done some basic overclocking to try and squeeze some more performance out of both GPU/CPU but I am uncertain which of the two is my bottleneck as I've been told that WoW is much more CPU dependent than it is GPU. ANY advice on either system optimization or which component I would see the greatest performance upgrade with would be GREATLY appreciated! The budget for upgrades is $1600-2000 CAD, but I would obviously prefer to keep some components if it isn't going to be a substantial gain over existing hardware. I will link the full DxDiag as well but here is a component highlight. (GPU-Z SS is attached) DxDiag.txt Hi, to be honest you have a pretty solid rig, and really shouldn’t be struggling with any games (possibly with some lowered settings). The only suggestion i would make is possibly a SSD if you don’t already have one? It seems much more likely to be something non hardware related, as you have a still relevant and solid build. Hi. Posted February 24, 2019 That 980 should still be fine and the 4770k looks pretty nice I think you might actually have a different problem perhaps software related. Main rig I also got some cheep lg phone and a chromebook, witch I have been known to mine bitcoin on sometimes CPU: R5 2400g RAM: 8gb ram MOBO: msi b350 pc mate CASE: Eclipse p300 PSU: 500w corsair
 Posted February 24, 2019 Author Thanks guys! I was thinking the same (regarding software issues) so I did a full reformat and windows 10 install a week ago, and unfortunately I was still having poor framerate in raid If anyone has any suggestions regarding software that may be limiting my computer's performance I would love to hear about them! PS I do have my OS on a Samsung EVO SSD and all of my games are also on an assortment of SSDs
