So I was looking to pick up a few of these as storage drives for various PCs, seeing as Samsung and cheap, but are they any good?

I'd spend 10$ more to get a WD Blue, it has DRAM, and its TLC.

or 10$ more for a 660p.

They're meant to be SSDs, but not performance ones.

They're just below-average SSDs however

I already have 850 Evos that I use as storage drives (my storage config for my main system is as follows : 250GB 970 Evo = :C, browser, Steam, Spotify, etc. 1TB 850 Evo = Games, 1TB Crucial MX500 = Programs and files. I have another 500GB 850 Evo that I use in another rig (i5-7600K, 1060 3GB)

 

However those (860s) are a bit pricey, something in the $100 - 115 range is preferable since I need to get a few for different applications

While I've never had one (what can I say? I'm a Samsung SSD fangirl), the Crucial MX500s do have a good reputation and you might be able to save a few shekels there.

I already have an MX500 and it's been quite good as a programs drive, I think I'll pick up a couple more.
