Ethernet over usb C for Android

BanksC

Okay, so I've recently moved apartments however my ISP is being slow with activating my line, so I was wondering if I would be able to use my mobile as an ethernet hub too my pc.

I know you can connect your android devices to a modem etc through ethernet to connect to the internet but can it work in the opposite direction and if so how?

My 4g is spotty inside the flat so the plan was to leave my phone in an are with good connection (which is in another room) and run the ethernet from there to my pc

Thoughts?

I can get pretty reasonable speeds on my computer using my Google Pixel 2 as a wireless hotspot (assuming decent 4G reception), and I can get pretty reasonable speeds using a USB type C to RJ45 adapter to use my home internet over a wired connection to my phone, but I've never tried to provide my computer with a wired internet connection from my phone.

I'm not sure if it can be done. If I remember then I will try this later tonight when I get home from work.

Generally phones will have a wifi hotspot capability, but if you absolutely need ethernet that isn't an option. There might be a way to put a phone into bridge mode with an ethernet cable, but I don't know it.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
