Hi guys,

I upgraded my PM951 for a 970 PRO on my Alienware 17 R3. However, the ssd can't acheive advertised performance (see below) (I tried AS SSD, and samsung magician benchmarks)

image.png.66011f7c39a574889e1208933a12a2e7.png.

My BIOS is at latest version.

I tried changing in BIOS RAID for AHCI.

Windows is freshly installed.

SSD is on first m.2 slot PCIE3 x4 lanes.

I tried to install NVME drivers but failed windows just keep using it's driver.

Any ideas?

Thanks

If you could install Samsung's driver, I think you'd be getting advertised speeds. I don't know why I keep seeing issues of Windows force installing it's own driver, rather than let the user install a better one. Try to manually install the Samsung driver in Device Manager.

Yes it is supposed to be... That is a strange issue because in magician my previous PM951 was showing PCI e gen 3 x 4. However now it shows pci e gen 3 x 2. Weird....

Why that would happen?

Weirdly enough and I swear I didn't put the ssd in the wrong spot in the first place it's now resolved. I putted second ssd (pm951) on the second slot and when I rebooted samsung magician was seeing the drive as pci e gen 3x4 and then the performances started to show up. It's still not max speed but it's good enough for me. If anyone have a suggestion to make it faster i'll take it.

I've got a second question. My computer is pretty slow to boot since I putted the second m.2 drive. My guess is that is caused by my second drive having windows on it and I think that slows down UFEI at startup.  How could I resolve this without loosing data I still need to keep it as a backup for a while.

Thanks

Did you try changing the boot order in the BIOS?
