defamation of character question

Given Linus has presented all the facts to a certain tuber and his unwillingness to work with linus moving on from this, could Linus technically sue for slander and defamation of character? I'm not too sure how it works over there in the states but given what he's doing surely it cannot be legal?

IDK if it's legal or not but it'd be a terrible PR move. If a smaller channel says you're trying to crush small channels then you take them to court how do you think that will look?

hmmm true, so linus just has to sit back and hope that most youtube viewers haven't had a full frontal lobotomy?

Pretty much, don't see what else he can do, and the drama has actually pushed more views to his channel, so if anything they're actually helping him, lol.

The problem would be that it wouldn't be a personal defamation lawsuit, but rather, a lawsuit could only be brought to court by LMG or on LMG's behalf.

 

While I don't know exactly how the laws are in Canada, in the US there are a lot of differences between defamation brought against a company and defamation brought against a person.

In this honestly rather farcical debacle, there's not enough evidence (at least from what I can see) to sue anyone for corporate defamation.

It would just give the kid more publicity and perhaps more reason to kick up a fuss. It would be viable, but unnecessary. It's not really questionable to see why this guy won't work with Linus - he's better off causing drama, as many people search LTT more than they search for him, now he is popping up on Google Search.
