I have a dual cpu mob that i'm doing a build with, but there is a capacitor right next to one of the cpu power connectors. Right before the clip goes all the way on it is blocked by the capacitor, maybe 1mm away. My mob is the Intel s5520hc and the power supply is an 850w EVGA gold. Should I try to force it in?

The cpu cable I have is split into two pieces(two 4 by 4 connectors) and has the clips widened about double the normal width. Unfortunately I can't take pictures at the moment and I couldn't find any for the cable, but here is the motherboard:

No, you're likely to break the cap off. I'd rather remove the clip from the connector instead or shave it down with a file, for example.

Can I just take some sc-fi tech and make the clip phase through the cap? :)

The clip isnt overly important unless there will be tension on the cable. Like @WereCatf said, id just snap the clip off

You know from the amount of force it took me to remove a psu cable, the clip probably doesn't matter. Should I use wire/plastic cutters?

Even if the cable was really loose and there was some tension, one could always pop some hot glue on it to do the same job as the clip. Hot snot is easy enough to remove, too.

Whatevers laying around really. Wire cutters will work fine. Might even be able to do it with your thumb? Its been a while since ive had to

I'd use proper sidecutters so the force of the cutters is applied as close to the connector's wall as possible and in a straight line down, but feel free to do it as you like.
