What is this part?

Hello. I posted a couple days ago and had some help which determined the problem to be these 2 chips (think there diode) as they are ticking when I have the 24pin and 8pin in my Asus crosshair v formula z.  I am not sure if there is a part name as I can't see one and can't find a board overview anywhere. So my question is does anyone know what they are?

Can you post a close up photo, so we can see the shape and maybe even some text and logos if present?

They are flat pack caps.

Because of the layout of the markings on the top of them and where they are.

There are two more on the voltage rails going to the memory on the left side of the socket.

How do you know?

Thank you for your help.  I knowthe left one looks weird as I tried to re solder it as it didn't look like it had much.

Get the values off of the ones by the memory, they are likely identical.

Get a de-soldering braid and some flux.

Remove the caps and clean the area with flux and braid.

Tin the pads

Tin the leads on the new caps

Place a cap on its pads

touch the iron to the pad to melt its solder and the solder on the cap

repeat for the other side

repeat for next cap

The direction you install the caps is important!

Solder blobs should be avoided as you can short to the other traces/vias around the cap if you are unlucky.

Watch Louis Rossman for examples of technique.

Watch some Louis Rossman videos for general "best practice" with delicate soldering.
