RTX 2080 VS RTX 2080 Ti What's the difference?

I'm mildly confused about the difference between a 2080 and a 2080 Ti. Why does the Ti have 11GB where as the normal has 8GB. Further more why are they so much more expensive than the "basic" video card?

I also have the same question in regards to the 1080 and 1080 Ti?

The Ti versions are faster cards than the "normal" versions. They have more cores, more VRAM, bigger chips and use more power.

Same thing as any other TI version of a card, you'll notice a pattern. Usually there's more power, and in the vast majority of cases, more ram (except the 1070 ti, which was kinda rushed and spontaneous)

the TI version uses a different chip than the ''normal'' version. Also has bigger memory bandwidth and more memory. which uses more power

Is the price difference worth it? 

I know that is a very subjective question; but I'm curious if the increase in power is really worth the huge price difference.

The performance difference is about 30%. Now is that worth it? For me yes but for many others no.

About 1,408 CUDA cores, 176 Tensor cores, and 3 GB of VRAM, to name a few.

 

Is it "worth it"? There's a very simple answer to that: no. The 2080 is a better card for the money paid. But that by no means makes it a better card. The 2080 Ti is clearly better, and by quite a large margin, but the price is definitely not better. You can look up benchmarks on youtube and decide for yourself. If you're not playing at 4k, I wouldn't worry about it.

1080 to 1080 ti was a different story, it had a more modest price increase.

The gap between the 2080 and 2080 ti in price has made it a lot less worth it, but if you want the best, it's hard to argue
