NO POST AFTER PSU CHANGE

What just happened is I changed my parents PSU and the system will no longer boot up what happened is that after a fower outage the PSU died it was a 300w Bestec I replaced it with a 80 plus bronze EVGA 400bt and now the PC will not boot and I know that it is not the mother board please help

Did you checked the psu if it's working or not, if no then it could be the motherboard problem.

I have tested my parents mother board but I think that it is because of the  core 2 quad I cleaned up the thermal paste and did not have any on me so I just rubbed it up against the heatsync and it looked to be enough

Ya ya i know but I paired it wit a 750ti and its a heck of a gaming pc for under 75$

a) the BT is a pretty bad choice. Why not get a good PSU? Why such cheap shit?!

b) have you checked if your old PSU is ATX compatible??
