Good day,

so I’m trying to get my PC working again after I changed it’s case.

It was working perfectly fine before, but now it won’t boot (stuck in a boot loop with the sys speaker making rapid short beeps - Award bios)

I figured out that those beeps mean RAM malfunction. So I tried every RAM stick solo in Channel 1, every time it worked. So no faulty RAM sticks. But only channel 1 and 3 worked.

So after some googling, I discovered it might be a bend cpu pin. Removed cpu, discovered a bend pin in the socket of MoBo and fixed it. But the issue persists.

Thanks in advance!

Check the plugins on your PSU sometimes they come loose after moving parts around. Most people check the plugs going into the board and forget the check the other end.

It’s a non modular 650w Eurocase psu (I know I know, it’s sh*t, but it’s the only thing I have and it works fine)

But as I said before, with only 1 Ram stick in a Channel 1 or 3 slot [xo xo] . With a Ram stick in different slot it won’t work.

I also thought it might be a very tight cpu cooler which might cause issues with the memory controller, but the coolers isn’t very tight, so that won’t be the issue either.

You probably toasted your board mate, next time don't remove it from the socket. It's a unnecessary step if you're just swapping cases.

If it's still under warranty, and you can make it look like it wasn't bent you might be able to get a replacement. (They don't cover physical damage) I did this with a bent pin on my FX chip back in the day

It’s warranty is long due, after all, i5 2500k is a 8y old chip, and so is the MoBo. But the thing is, it was working perfectly fine before.

Hey I just realized this, if you're 1 and 3 slots are still good you still have access to dual channel memory go get some 2×8 sticks for dirt cheap and you will never notice a difference.

Yeah man It doesn't take my much to kill components at times. I've killed a PC by literally sliding it across the floor the a new spot in my room. (it sits on a board since carpet is bad)

Well, the thing is, dual channel memory isn’t working, as I said. Channel 1 and 3 are next to each other. Dual channel is Chan 1-2 ; 3-4

20 bucks and your golden agian. If I were you I'd just use 8gb for now. I personally have 8gb in mine because I was waiting for ram prices to drop when I built mine. which they have, so it's the best time for it.

What????? Dual channel is always 1-3 and 2-4, that's really odd...

Edit: Like on my board I have my 1 and 3 slots in use right now and I have dual channel. But if that's the case then just buy a new board, it can't be more than like 30 bucks now.

Mans that's disgusting for prices, how much would it cost to buy some from a U.S or U.K store and pay extra for shipping?

I bought a GPU (r9 290x) a year ago for 100$, spend 30$ on tax, 50$ on shipping, 20$ to get it from the customs, and I had to travel 350km to pick it up by myself because the customs were not willing to ship it to me.

Praise the EU!

Damn man that's just shitty, I honestly don't know what to offer for help. I guess you could try to wiggle the pin around more see if it will fix it. I doubt it will, but at this point it's not going to make it any worse.

Also check for any other pins that might be slightly off, you might have missed one when fixing the obvious one.

Alright, so after many retries I was finally able to fix it. Most likely a slightly bend pin.

Now I'm overclocking that 2500k, stable at 4.4Ghz @ 1.2V. Quite impressive if you ask me :)
