Hey Guys,

Just a quick question about Corsair RAM. I got 16 Gigs of Corsair Vengeance RGB 3000mHz RAM in my comp and I wanted to extend this to 32 Gigs. Amazon charges over 200 quid for two sticks whereas I paid 160 quid for them sticks a year ago and by now I can buy them in the UK or Germany for around 120 quid. However, that's not the question, the question is: you got these sticks also in a black jacket, for the rest they are identical (same cas latency, mHz, clockspeeds, manufacturer), only the black ones are a lot cheaper for whatever reason. Can I mix the black ones with the white ones? No, I am not concerned about possible aesthetic issues, just wanna know whether they'd work together happily ever after? Thanks!

Gr,

J.

It is possible they will work, but we don't recommend mixing different kits because we can't guarantee compatibility.  When we sell a kit of say 4 modules, they are all tested together to ensure no issues.

Thanks for your replies, guys! So if I understand well, the trick is in that these sticks you buy together are tested together (just the 2 or 4 or them and not a whole batch) and any other kit that I would buy would not be guaranteed to work as well with the first kit because they're not tested together? I mean I was just asking as the black and the white ones are literally identical to each other bar the color of the jacket. I always thought that when brand, mHz, cas and clock times are the same, you can use them together. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Much appreciated. Cheers from Dublin!

I used the black and red ones.  They are the same memory, just different color heat spreaders.  I believe the part numbers were the same except one letter to signify the color.

Will you guys be offering those tall boy kits soon?

@Jojobaplant  If you can afford to -- buy the kit and test it out.  If it doesn't work -- send it back.  Something to look out for would be the inherent problems in running four sticks which may make troubleshooting difficult.  ie trying to figure out if the new kit isn't compatible or if it's just the struggles of running four sticks of RAM.

It's not a matter of one pair performing less than the other pair.  There is a possibility they might not play well together, but work fine independently.  There are people that have run mixed kits with no issues, and  we've seen some people mixing two kits and the system having issues which is why we can't guarantee mixing.  Basically luck of the draw.

Not sure for the Vengeance RGB model, but we do offer 8-packs for the newer Vengeance PRO RGB model in 64gb and 128gb configs.

Sorry, I meant those new double capacity RAM modules that are taller.

Enlighten thee, please? Double capacity as in sticks that hold like 32 or 64 gigs? Thanks in advance for letting me know!

Thanks! So indeed a larger capacity per stick. Given the prices of RAM currently, these darlings will be out of reach for me for now and in the near future. But still, nice, nice :)
